Stanley Albert Muhlbeier, 89, of Hardin. passed away peacefully March 21, 2014.
He was born Dec. 16, 1924, in Longmont, Colo., a son of David and Christina Hehr Muhlbeier. He moved to the St. Xavier area with his parents when he was 12 years old. He attended school in St. Xavier and graduated from Hardin High School in 1943. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 and received his honorable discharge in 1946.
Stan married Ruth Taylor on April 24, 1948, in Crow Agency, and they farmed in the St. Xavier area until 1951, when they moved to Laurel. He worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad. In 1954 they returned to the St. Xavier area and worked for area farmers. Stan was a construction carpenter, who worked on various projects in the area. In 1982, he was employed by School District 17H & 1, retiring in 1987.
His parents, a son David; sister, Helena Howard; and brothers Herman, Ed, Reuben, Harold and Ray preceded Stan in death.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ruth; daughters, Connie (George) Rowton, Chris (Gary) Sterton and Bev (Tim) Hagen; a son, Robert (Deb) Muhlbeier; his grandsons, Craig (Kris) Warren, Shawn (Kris) Warren, Dana Guttormsen, Jordan Hagen and Alex (Amanda) Rowton; his granddaughters Silva Guttormsen, Ashley (Darin) Pankratz, Leah (Brett) Wolever and Kara (Steve) Herschkowitz; his great-grandsons, Evan Klewin, Logan, Dillon and Carter Warren; and his great granddaughters Kaylee Klewin, Stella Wolever and Hannah Pankratz.
Bullis Mortuary in Hardin was entrusted with the arrangements.
