Amtrak provided great service during stayover

I would like to take this opportunity to commend Amtrak personnel for their great service on my recent unscheduled trip to Havre.

Despite all the delays — 12 hours late getting to Havre and seven hours late getting to Everett — none of which were Amtrak's fault, the Amtrak staff did everything they could to keep the passengers informed and comfortable. They repeatedly apologized and graciously bore the blame for the delays. They were right there giving directions and helping with baggage when we had to take buses around avalanches and mud slides. They made sure we had food and water for the bus trips. Most people don't consider the fact that the Amtrak personnel were more inconvenienced than the passengers as they had to remain with the train, not reach their destination to see family and scheduled appointments, or get any rest.

The Amtrak staff at Havre — how can I say enough nice things about them? They are very professional and friendly and go out of their way to provide whatever information and help you require. They, too, have to remain at their station no matter what until the trains get in. During the winter season, I am sure they are sleep deprived with all those long hours. My hat is off to you.

I will be moving to Havre shortly and look forward to, once again, enjoying the small-town culture and friendliness not found in the metropolitan areas.
