HRDC hosts fundraiser Saturday at Eagles Club
A local fundraiser again is offering people “A Chair at the Table” to raise funds for food and early education.
District 4 Human Resources Development Council has set the fundraiser Saturday night at the Havre Eagles Club, offering food, music, games and an auction of specially refurbished chairs to raise money for the Havre Food Bank and for Early Head Start and Head Start, which are administered by HRDC.
HRDC Executive Director Karen Thomas said the creativity the local artists used in redecorating the chairs is “amazing,” and invited people to come to the event even just to look at the chairs, which will be displayed prior to the auction.
The first “A Chair at the Table,” held in November 2012, raised $1,200 for the Food Bank.
Darren Overlie will auction off the chairs, some new and some used and all redecorated by local artists.
Overlie also will lead activities in between the auctions, Thomas said, which is planned to include Truth or Dare and Musical Chairs.
A 50-50 drawing, in which the winner will split the proceeds of ticket sales with the fundraiser, also is planned.
The event, designated a “chair-ity” by HRDC, is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Saturday with a sloppy joe and salad meal at $5 a plate.
