Thirty-five-year-old Dawn Marie Beeman was the victim of the murder Sunday night that prompted Havre police to take Jordan Carlson into custody.
Carlson, 25, was arrested after officers responded to an 8 p.m. Sunday call about a disturbance at 620 1st Ave. Apt. 3.
Havre police released the name Tuesday afternoon after withholding in earlier press releases about the case.
Carlson was arrested on a charge of deliberate homicide after officers and emergency medical personnel found Beeman dead at the apartment.
Acting Havre Police Chief Gabe Matosich said this morning that processing of the crime scene was finished Tuesday afternoon and an investigative report will be sent to Hill County County Attorney Gina Dahl at the end of this week or the beginning of the next.
Hill County Justice Court officials said the case is being filed in Havre City Court. Calls to that office were unsuccessful this morning.
This is Carlson‘s second major scrape with the law. In 2009, he admitted using lighter fluid to start a couch in his Havre apartment on fire.
He was initially treated at Montana State Hospital and later transferred to Montana State Prison.
He was released on Sept. 17, 2013.
