Jude The Boy, Rocky Boy Basketball
The Rocky Boy Morning Stars came within one win of reaching the Class B state tournament this weekend in Butte. And they did it by turning in an impressive performance at last weekend’s Northern B divisional in Conrad. Rocky Boy placed third and won three straight games to do it. And a big reason why was sophomore Jude The Boy. She scored a career-high 20 points in Rocky Boy’s crucial loser-out win over Conrad Saturday morning, while she also came up big with 10 points in the Morning’s Stars victory over Glasgow in a loser-out game Friday. In all, The Boy averaged 12 points at the Northern B.
Randall Gardipee, Box Elder Basketball
Randall Gardipee has had a brilliant senior season for the now state champion Box Elder boys basketball team. But no question, he saved his best for last. On his way to earning Class C state tournament MVP honors, Gardipee averaged 23 points and six rebounds in the Bears’ three wins at the Butte Civic Center. In Saturday night’s title game, Gardipee scored 28 points and grabbed seven boards against Westby-Grenora, while he dropped 23 points on Fairview in Friday night’s semifinal game. Gardipee also scored 20 Thursday night against Drummond, and overall, he hit six 3-pointers and had 11 steals on the weekend.
