Lorraine Jacobs, 75, of Box Elder, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at her residence of natural causes. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Rocky Boy Catholic Church with Father Pete Guthneck officiating. Burial will follow in Rocky Boy Cemetery. Lorraine was born on July 12, 1938, in Harlem, to Joseph and Mary (Russette) Houle. She was raised in Rocky Boy, attending Flandreau Indian School, from which she graduated in 1956. The family relocated to El Monte, Calif., soon after, where she worked as a bartender. Lorraine married Henry Jacobs in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1972, and the couple made their home in El Monte for several years. They moved to Las Vegas in 1987, and finally returned home to Box Elder in 1997.
Lorraine was a fiercely independent woman who loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping for her grandchildren, singing, especially with her family, playing Bingo, and collecting angels.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her two sons, Jeffrey and Curt LaRoque; her parents, Joseph and Mary Houle; her siblings, Patty Azure, Phyllis Brose, Francis Williams, Joseph Houle II and Thelma Kling; and numerous other relatives.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Jacobs of Box Elder; her eight children, John LaRoque of Rocky Boy, Terry (John) Sandoval of Moreno Valley, Calif., Janet Grajeda, Sheryl Jones, and Patrick Jones, all of Rocky Boy, Mary Jo Jones of Butte, Marlin (Tina) Jones of Havre and Jeffrey (Stacy) Jones of Rocky Boy; her 17 grandchildren; her 15 great-grandchildren; her two brothers, James (Tammy) Houle and Warren (Pamela) Houle, all of Rocky Boy; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
