Darlene M. Berger, 80, of Rocky Boy, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Northern Montana Care Center, of natural causes. A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, in the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel, and cremation will follow. There will be a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the Berger residence on Duck Creek. Burial will follow in the Russette Family Cemetery. Darlene was born on May 17, 1933, in Rocky Boy, to Theodore and Ursula (Ladeau) Russette. She was raised in Rocky Boy, attending the Sawmill School. Following her school years, she helped out at home until her marriage to Edward Berger in 1950 in Havre. The couple worked hard farming and helping to raise family members until Edward's death in 2007. Darlene remained in the family home on Duck Creek until she entered the Northern Montana Care Center in December 2013. She loved camping, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends, sewing, reading, and gardening, both flowers and vegetables, and watching her old western movies.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Berger; her parents, Theodore and Ursula Russette; her sister, Rita Saddler; and numerous other relatives.
She is survived by her daughters, Edwina (Tony) Parisian of Havre and Dodie Houle (Mike Pullin) of Rocky Boy; her three grandchildren, John and Bear Merrill, and JoJo Saddler, all of Havre; her brothers, Theodore Russette Jr. of Rocky Boy and Paul "Buddy" Russette, Sr. of Havre; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
