MSU-N volleyball signs two more standouts

The Montana State University-Northern volley team’s 2014 recruiting class grew by two recently as Northern head coach Bill Huebsch announced the signing of Jessica Wilcox and Jaden Lynch to NAIA national letters of intent.

Wilcox is a 6-0 middle/outside hitter from Las Vegas, who comes to Northern from Utah State University-Eastern. She played four years of volleyball at Bonanza High School and then two seasons at Utah State University-Eastern. During her high school career, she received Second-Team All-State honors her junior year and First-Team All-State accolades her senior year, as well as All-Tournament at the Las Vegas Invitational. While at USU-Eastern Jessica was in the top 10 for most aces her freshman year and her sophomore year was a captain and was in the top 10 for most kills in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.

Wilcox said she felt welcomed by coach Huebsch and the rest of the Skylight team. She is really looking forward to the opportunity to compete in the Frontier Conference with her new Skylight family. She show’s determination, dedication and perseverance in her work ethic and cannot wait for the challenges the next season has in store. Wilcox said she “looks forward to becoming a part of the Havre community and MSU-Northern and is excited to play volleyball at MSU-Northern with coach Huebsch and the Skylights.”

Wilcox is the daughter of Chris and Sonya Wilcox and has four older siblings, Melinda, Tyrel, Aaron and Kami. She is coming to MSU- Northern to join the Skylights for their 2014 volleyball season, while pursuing her bachelor’s degree in health promotions.

Lynch is a 5-11 setter from Williston, N.D. She played four years of varsity volleyball at Williston High School and was the starting setter for three years and captain for two. During her time at Williston High, she was a two-time All-Conference and two-time All-Tournament team selection. She received Second-Team All-State honors her junior year. She was also chosen to play for the Lions All-Star Team and received the MVP honor. After high school, Lynch signed to play junior college volleyball in her hometown with Williston State College. As starting setter for two years for the Tetons, she accumulated 2,433 assists, 202 kills, 107 aces, 439 digs, and 78 blocks. She also was named Mon-Dak Conference MVP back-to-back years.

  Along with her volleyball accomplishments, she also played basketball her freshman year at Williston State. She helped her team advance to the NJCAA National Tournament. She also has been an active member of the Teton Activity Board and is the acting president this semester.

  Lynch is the daughter of Shelly and Shawn Lynch and has four siblings, Brandon, Tara, Collin and Trey. She is attending MSU-Northern to continue her education studying elementary education and join the Skylight volleyball team for their 2014 season. Lynch loves being involved with any sport and spending time with family and friends.
