Library tree lets donors choose books

The Havre-Hill County Library's Valentine's Book Tree gives people a choice of what their donations to the library are going to be spent on.

The tree is decorated with paper ornament hearts that have photos of book covers on them. People may choose which book they would like to see at the library, take the corresponding heart off the tree and take it to the front desk to make a donation to the library for the purchase of the book.

"I kind of just picked the books from the 2013 Book of the Year list," said Library Director Rachel Rawn, who put the tree up Wednesday.

Rawn's favorite from the book tree was Karen Joy Fowler's "We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves." Other titles include "The Sound of Things Falling" by Juan Gabriel Vasquez and Jaron Lanier's "Who Owns the Future?"

Rawn said she hopes people will notice the tree and donate, and she thinks there may be donations made at the pie social Friday.
