For the second time this season, Montana State University-Northern senior Alfie Miller has earned Frontier Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors.
Miller helped the No. 23 Lights to two dramatic wins this past weekend in Havre. The senior from Seattle scored 15 points and made four 3-pointers in Northern’s overtime win against Montana Tech Friday night, then poured in a game-high 26 points and nailed eight threes in the Lights’ come-from-behind win against Lewis-Clark State Saturday night.
Miller averaged 20.5 points and six rebounds over the two games. He was 14-of-19 (74 percent) from the field, including 12-of-16 on 3-point field goals (75 percent) and 1-of-2 from free-throw-line.
University of Great Falls sophomore Erin Legel was named Women’s Player of the Week. Legel is a 5-5 sophomore guard from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The Lady Argos downed Montana Tech 89-67 and upset No. 13 Lewis-Clark State 87-67.
She averaged 25 points, six rebounds and six assists Legel was 17-of-34 from field (50 percent) and 7-of-15 (47 percent) in 3-point field goals and 9-of-11 from the free-throw line (82 percent).
Northern junior A’Jha Edwards was also nominated for the award this week.
The Lights and Skylights travel to UM-Western Thursday night.
