Franklin "Frank" Glunz, 77, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, in Irmo S.C.
Frank was born in Glasgow, Mont. in 1936, son of the late Robert I. and Lula V. (Waagen) Gluz.
The family moved to Havre in 1942. He graduated from Havre Central High School in 1955 and shortly thereafter enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. While stationed in Japan in the early '60s, he met and married Shizuko (Endo) Glunz. Frank retired from the Air Force as a master sergeant in 1979. After the Air Force, he began a second career at Allied Fibers in Columbia, S.C., until his retirement.
Frank was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and was a motorcycle safety instructor for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Shizuko; children, Ellen (Allen) Baber, Edwin (Wendy) Glunz and LouAnne Glunz; grandchildren, Allen Barber III and Ryan Barber; sisters, Carol (Charles) Hathaway of Washington, Shirley (Dennis) Wedlandt of Washington and Kathy Clint) Wright of Montana; brothers, Donald Glunz of Idaho and David Glunz and Alvin Glunz, both of Havre. Frank was buried with military honors at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, S.C.
