Firefighters were called to the 700 Block of 6th Street at 4:56 p.m. Monday when someone called about flames coming from the roof of their neighbor’s house. There were no flames, just furnace exhaust.

A white and tan male border collie-mix was placed in the shelter Jan. 3, a gray and white male cat Jan. 8, a tan male basset-mix Jan. 23 and a tan and white female mix-breed puppy Jan. 27.
