Havre Police Department

Joseph Curry Braaten, 29, of Havre was arrested on a Justice or City court warrant after an officer investigated suspicious activity at 9:08 a.m. Thursday at the Havre-Hill Library.

Officers investigated a 12:23 p.m. Thursday call from the 8th Avenue and 15th Street area about the calling party witnessing a hit and run by a Chevrolet truck.

Officers investigated a 4:52 p.m. Thursday call about a lost or stolen small sewing machine.

Officers investigated a 8:14 p.m. Thursday complaint at the police department about someone wanting to speak to an officer about a possible temporary restraining order violation.

Officers investigated an 8:32 p.m. Thursday call from Lincoln Avenue about smoke coming from a shed in a backyard.

———

Officers investigated an 11:35 p.m. Thursday call about a friend who was beat up showing up at the calling party’s house.

Teresa Angel Jiron, 19, of Havre was arrested on charges of partner or family member assault and purchase or possession of an intoxicant by a minor after officers responded to a 1:43 a.m. Friday call from a 1st Street Northeast residence.

Hill County Sheriff’s Office

Joseph Cliff Simpson, 23, of Havre was served a state District Court warrant at the Hill County Detention Center at 3:50 p.m. Thursday.

Havre Fire Department

Emergency medical personnel responded to two calls Thursday.

Firefighters were called to the 1000 Block of Lincoln Avenue at 8:39 p.m. Thursday to address a storage shed fire. The shed was being used for woodwork and the fire, which caused about $20,000 in damages to the structure and the content, was caused by hot ashes.
