It’s been a long layoff for the Havre High boys and girls swim teams. But now the Blue Ponies are ready to re-start their season.
Havre is in Hardin for today’s Class A Invitational, and the meet will not only be critical in getting Havre back into race mode, but it will also show the Blue Ponies what they’re up against when the state swim meet comes in just over a month.
Havre will face off today against defending Class A champion Billings Central, as well as the Hardin Bulldogs. The Blue Ponies already saw both teams last month in Great Falls, but this meet will be the first and only time the three A teams go head-to-head without Class A swimmers also in the pool.
The Class A Invite also starts a busy stretch of racing for the Ponies. Havre will compete in the Great Falls Invitational next Saturday, followed by meets in Missoula and Helena.
Today’s meet will be good experience for both of HHS’s teams as well. The Havre girls do have some veterans, and overall, the Ponies have gotten off to a strong start this season. The Blue Pony boys are much younger, and every race helps them gain more and more experience.
Today’s meet in Hardin will start at 1 p.m. The Ponies will head to Great Falls for the Great Falls Invitational next Saturday at the Swarthout Pool.
