Ice Hawks struggle in four road games

The Havre Ice Hawks played four more games over the weekend, but the battle to get back into the win column continues.

Helena defeated the Ice Hawks on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s loss was 7-2, and Saturday’s loss was 6-0.

On Friday, goalie Josh Emge had 24 saves against the Big Horns, but only got help with two goals by the offense. Dustin Armstrong scored on a Ned Malone assist in the first period, while Blake Hanson’s unassisted goal came in the third period. Havre did play a clean game with just three penalties, but struggled against the talented Big Horns.

Emge had another 28 saves on Saturday, but with no offensive production, the Big Horns were barley tested. Helena’s goalie had to make just 13 saves.

On Sunday morning the Ice Hawks suffered another shutout loss. This time it was the Billings Bulls who defeated Havre 8-0. Emge came up with an impressive 38 saves, while Havre committed five penalties. The Ice Hawks didn’t get the puck in the net, but did force Billings to make 30 saves. Sunday afternoon also brought another loss to the Ice Hawks at the hands of the Bulls, this time 5-2. Emge had 27 saves in another solid outing, while goals were scored by Malone and Alex Hanson. Dustin Armstrong had the assist to Malone. Penalties were held to minimum once again as the Ice Hawks were penalized just five times.

Havre will play next on the weekend of January 24-26 when they travel to a tournament in Butte.
