Laurel — If you are looking for a quiet time in the middle of the Christmas rush, stop by Van Orsdel United Methodist Church from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday. The church will be puttin on its annual living Nativity scene. It is a moving experience. It reminds people of what most of us believe is the real meaning of Christmas.

Laurel — Law enforcement officials often get a bad image. But think of Lewis and Clark County sheriff’s deputies and other area officials who thought nothing of going into a cold water stream north of Helena to save a horse that had fallen in the drink. Horse lovers thank the officers.

Dart — Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity at Montana State University in Bozeman was involved in serious violations of campus policy related to a charge of sexual abuse of a drunken and drugged woman. Incidents of this nature are a common problem in and out of fraternities on campus.

Laurel — After admitting to a number of violations, the Phi Kaps came to an agreement with university officials in which they agreed to clean up their act — including agreeing to training for their members on the problems of sexual abuse — and move forward.

Dart — Craig Cobb is a white supremacist. He moved into the tiny town of Leith in North Dakota. Because the town has so few voters, Cobb thought he could convince some of his racist buddies to waltz into town, register to vote and take over the town through the ballot box. The longtime residents of Leith have objected and dare taking Cobb to court.
