Glen Edwin Solum, 85, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at the Northern Montana Hospital in Havre, Mont.
He has been cremated and no services are being planned. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Glen was born June 3, 1928, to Edwin and Karen (Spaberg) Solum. He was raised on the family farm south of Rudyard, Mont. He joined the military in 1946. Following his discharge, he returned to the family farm. Glen married Irene Cuerth in 1954. He went to work for the railroad in Havre as a fireman, working his way up to engineer, before retiring after almost 40 years.
Glen enjoyed gardening, fishing and traveling. He was a very independent, vibrant man who adored his wife, Irene.
Glen was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; his son, Wayne Solum; his brother, Orville Solum; and his sister, Helen Richter.
He is survived by his son, Dale (Linda) Solum, and his granddaughter, Erica Solum, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his brother, Marcel (Myrl Jean) Solum of Rudyard, Mont.; his sister, Evelyn (Philip) Griffin of Tacoma, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
