Minnie was born on June 30, 1922, in Havre to Leon and Josephine (Gasiorowski) Chagnon. She was raised in Havre, attending St. Jude Thaddeus School. Following her school years, Minnie helped at home and worked on the family farm until her marriage to Robert A. Davey in 1946. The couple's union was blessed with four children. They lived on Robert's family farm, working the cows and in the garden, raising their children, until Robert passed away in 2011. Minnie was able to live at home because her granddaughter Ruby Hould moved with her family to the family farm to care for her grandmother.
Minnie enjoyed working puzzles, chatting with friends and family, going dancing with Robert and collecting pixies, and she loved camping, picnics and fried chicken. She absolutely treasured her huckleberry-picking trips. Minnie was a strong woman who enjoyed reminiscing about the past. Never one to mince words, she was loving and gentle to the young ones and outspoken to the older ones.
Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Davey in 2011; her son, William Davey in 2013; her infant granddaughter; her infant great-grandson; her siblings, George Chagnon, Ida Patera, Helen Anderson, William Chagnon, Fred Chagnon and Lee Chagnon; and her special nephew, Raymond Anderson.
She is survived by her son Fred (Violet) Davey of Havre; her daughters Marie Davey of Bozeman and Barbara (Jack) Gard of Ohio; her 13 grandchildren; her 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her sister, Laura Sheehy of Big Sandy; her brother, Paul Chagnon of Havre; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
