Dorothy M. Cole, 88, of Havre, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at the Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes. Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at St. Jude Thaddeus Church.
Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at St. Jude Thaddeus Church with committal services to follow at Highland Cemetery. The family has requested that memorials be made in Dorothy's name to St. Jude Thaddeus Church or to St. Jude Thaddeus School.

Dorothy was born on Jan. 23, 1925, in St. Paul, Minn,, to Virgil H. and Blanche (Muelbach) Griswold. She was raised in Havre, graduating from Havre High School in 1943. Following graduation, she moved to Arizona to work at a radio station for several years and then returned to Havre. On Sept. 2, 1950, she married William D. "Bill" Cole in Havre, and the couple's union was blessed with 10 children. The couple lived in Washington and Idaho before returning to Havre in 1952, where they raised their family. She worked various jobs over the years, retiring from the State of Montana after more than 20 years of service.
Dorothy was a fun-loving woman who enjoyed shopping, camping, family reunions, singing and playing the lottery and Keno. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She had a great sense of humor, and was known for her "Dorothy-isms" and her crazy hat collection. She was a woman of strong faith who was also generous and giving. Dorothy was known for her perpetual tardiness, and a sweet tooth, her favorite candy being peanut butter M&Ms.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her son, Pete Cole; her daughter, Molly Puryer; her sister, Blanche Griswold; and her brothers, Jack and Virgil Griswold.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Dan (Valerie) Cole of Belgrade, Mont., David (Patti) Cole of Anchorage, Alaska, and Paul (Jodi) Cole of Havre; her daughters, Blanche (Pat) Kellam of Chinook, Mont., Mary (Butch) Biskupiak of Helena, Mont., Betsy Riggleman of Andover, Minn., Marcia (Leonard) Wendland of Rudyard, Mont,, and Bonnie Brady of Great Falls, Mont .; her 26 grandchildren; her 13 great-grandchildren; her brother, George Griswold of Tuscon, Ariz .; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family, including Lowell Alcock and Rose Cloninger.
