Pony gridders honored by the Central A

It is no secret that the Havre High football program houses an explosive offense, so it should also come as no surprise that the Blue Ponies were led by their offensive standouts when the 2013 Central A All-Conference honors were recently announced.

The Central A Ponies earned 12 honors after their run to the Class A quarterfinals, with eight of those honors going to the offense.

Sophomore quarterback Dane Warp was named First-Team All-Conference for the second straight season, while three of his favorite targets also got nods by the rest of the league. Senior Thomas Gruber also got First-Team honors, while freshman Parker Filius and sophomore Nate Rismon both received Second-Team All-Conference honors.

Kody Pribyl also earned Second-Team honors from the running back position, while seniors Tyler Adams and Dustin Odegard were both honored for their efforts as offensive tackles. Adams was named First Team and Odegard was named Second Team. Gunnar Aageson also earned Second-Team honors as the HHS kicker to round out the offensive honorees.

Gruber was also recognized for his play on defense for the Ponies, and was named First-Team All Conference as a cornerback. Kyle Duitsman was also named Second Team on the defensive line, while Tyrell Pierce was named First Team as a defensive end, and Trevor Jenson was named First-Team All-Conference as a free safety.

Havre High finished the season with a record of 6-5, and was sent home after a tough loss to Columbia Falls in the quarterfinals. But the Ponies also defeated Miles City for the first time in nearly 10 years in the first round of the playoffs to extend the season at least one more week.

Class A All-State honors have yet to be released.
