News you can use
Looking for something to do over the Thanksgiving weekend? Here are four things on tap on the Hi-Line.
Community Thanksgiving
The annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held Thursday at St. Jude Parish Center. Food will be served 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., there is no charge, and visitors will get a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Want to volunteer? Show up this afternoon to help prepare and set up, Thursday morning to help deliver or Thursday at 11 a.m. to serve, wait tables and clean up.
Tree Lighting
The Community Tree Lighting Ceremony takes place at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Town Square. High school choral groups will sing, Santa will be there for the kids, and the tree that will grace the center of town will be lit.
Festival of Trees
The Festival of Trees, the annual display for uniquely decorated Christmas trees, will take place starting at 7 p.m. The festival raises funds for the Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line. The trees and several other donated items will be auctioned off. There will be food, games and entertainment throughout the night, and the Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line will make an announcement about its expansion plans. Want tickets? Call the club at 265-6206.
Salvation Army bells
Black Friday marks the start of the Christmas shopping season, and it is an important day for the Salvation Army. It marks the start of the kettle bell-ringing season. Bells will be rung at Holiday Village Mall, Kmart, Walmart and Gary & Leo’s Fresh Foods. The money raised during the shortened Christmas season will be used to fund Salvation Army’s emergency services throughout the year. The Salvation Army is usually the stop of last resort for people without shelter or other critical services. Want to help out? Volunteer some time to ring bells. Call 265-6411.
