People invited to Community Thanksgiving Dinner

Asked to call the Senior Center by 5 p.m. Tuesday for home delivery

Local residents again have been invited to a decades-old community celebration of Thanksgiving, even in their own homes, funded by an anonymous donor.

The Community Thanksgiving Dinner will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Jude Parish Center, across from Pepin Park at 440 7th Ave, with turkey and all the trimmings served while people join together in celebrating the holiday.

Debi Rhines, lead organizer of the event, said people are welcome to come volunteer to serve and stay for dinner, and anyone wishing to provide entertainment also is welcome.

The donor prohibits people paying for their meals, so even free-will donations will not be accepted. If anyone does slip in a donation, it will be given to local charities.

People who cannot make it to the dinner can ask for a meal to be delivered, but must call the North Central Senior Center at 265-5464 by 5 p.m. Wednesday to request the delivery. Volunteers will start delivering meals 8:30 Thursday morning.
