Havre woman steps forward to claim $2 million prize

Shannon Heggem of Havre bought a winning lottery ticket Aug. 31 and has finally come forward to claim her $2 million prize.

Montana Lottery Headquarters in Helena sent out a press release Thursday naming Heggem as biggest lottery winner in Montana since two Helena friends won $48.5 million from the Powerball jackpot in 2010.

The only information Heggem was willing to give to the Montana Lottery was her name and her city of residence.

Heggem recently sold her business, Doggy Day Care & Pet Resort, and auctioned off household, shop and kennel items Oct. 28 at the Great Northern Fairgrounds, including her two vehicles, as advertised in the Havre Daily News.
