The Montana State University-Northern women’s basketball team has its first Frontier Conference Player of the Week award for the 2013-14 season.
Monday, the league announced that Northern junior A’Jha Edwards was named Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Edwards is a 6-5 post player from Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Pima Community College. In Northern’s two wins this past weekend in Great Falls, Edwards averaged 16 points and 12 rebounds per game. She scored a season-high 25 points in MSU-N’s win over Pacific Union on Friday afternoon.
Carroll College senior guard Chris McGrath was named Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Carroll won two home games this weekend, while McGrath averaged 25 points per game.
Rocky Mountain College junior quarterback Bryce Baker earned the Frontier Offensive Player of the Week in football. Baker threw for 529 yards and five touchdowns in the Bears’ 49-28 win at MSU-Northern last Saturday.
Eastern Oregon linebacker Ryan Watson was named Defensive Player of the Week. Watson record 11 tackles and an interception in the Mounties’ win at UM-Western last Saturday. Carroll’s Jared Mayernik earned special team’s honors for the week.
