Louise May Simonson Loegering, 86, passed away on Nov. 6, 2013, at Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes. Cremation has taken place, and the family will hold a memorial service in Minnesota at a later date.
Louise was born May 11, 1927, in Parkers Prairie, Minn., to Arthur and Ella (Barker) Simonson. She was raised in Parkers Prairie and Browerville, Minn., attending school through eighth grade. Following her school years, Louise was needed at home to help raise her nieces, Janie and Toni.
On Jan. 23 1950, she married Lawrence Carl Loegering. The couple made their home in Poplar, Mont., where they raised their four children. They later divorced.
Louise worked at various jobs throughout her life in Poplar, most recently at Bould's Drug where she remained for many years, until her retirement at the age of 79. She moved to Havre, Mont., in 2010, to be near her daughter, Cindy.
Louise was mild-mannered, with a quick wit and great sense of humor. She loved to cook and was an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed watching TV and had several favorite shows, "Wheel of Fortune," Lawrence Welk and "Dancing with the Stars," to name a few. Louise did word-find puzzles every day and enjoyed reading her 'soap' magazines.
She loved to go dancing and came from a musical family. She even learned to play the piano by ear. Her family meant everything to her and she loved spending time with them.
Louise was preceded in death by her grandsons, Daniel and Tyler Hockett; her parents; her brother, Leslie "Spud" Simonson; and sister, Vivian "Toots" Mace.
She is survived by her sons, Tim (Paula) Loegering of Dickinson, N.D., and Cory (Susan) Loegering of Spring, Texas; her daughters, Cindy Hockett of Havre and Tammy (Randy) Iverson of Poplar, Mont .; grandchildren, Thomas Loegering, Andrew Loegering, Brittany Loegering, Brian Loegering, Michele Hockett, and Matthew Lawler; one sister, Betty "LuLu" Buchter of Cresco, Pa .; close family friend, Jerry Malkuch of Havre; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
