LaRena Stewart

LaRena Stewart, 80, of Chinook, Mont., passed away peacefully at home Nov. 7, 2013.

She was born Dec. 18, 1928, in Hingham, Mont., the daughter of Achsah Ida Huestis and Fred Vern Crites.

LaRena attended public school in Gilford. She worked as a nurse's aide in Poplar, Mont.; at the U.S. post office, and was one of the first women brakemen for the Burlington Northern Railroad. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with friends.

LaRena married Gorden Stewart March 17, 1951, in Las Cruces, N.M.

She was proceeded in death by her husband; parents; and all of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by daughter, Lorna Lockman (Rod), Bruce Stewart (Pennie); five grandchildren, Kristen, Andria, Tyler, Camden, Elliot; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are planned for June 28, 2014, at Upsata Lake, Mont,, per her requests. Arrangements have been made with Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
