Havre High senior volleyball players to be honored before Saturday's home finale against Browning
Saturday night marks the second meeting between Havre High and Browning on the volleyball court this season. But while a Central A conference win is on the line, Saturday also marks a special day for the Blue Pony seniors.
Before facing the Indians at the Havre High gymnasium on Saturday, six HHS seniors will be honored on senior night. This will be the last time the HHS seniors play volleyball on their home court, and the six girls deserve one last win in front of home fans.
Being honored will be Breck Don, Martha Stocker, Ellery Bresler, Jacinta Finneman, Aubrea Worm and Lacey Waid.
“This has been a good group of seniors,” Havre High head coach Melanie Skoyen said. “And it is nice to have a group where they can all contribute in a big way. And they are all leaders too, some are silent leaders and some are more vocal, but I know the rest of the team looks up to all of them.”
Not only is it nice for coach Skoyen to have six seniors on the roster, she also gets production from all of them on any given night.
It hasn’t been a quick start to the season for the Ponies, but the seniors have a chance to pick up two more wins this weekend. And with the seniors leading the way, the Ponies still house a lot of positive potential moving forward. Finneman and Stocker are both leading the Ponies in blocking this season, and Worm and Waid are leading the way in the kills category. Bresler gives the Ponies an edge with her passing, and Don adds a great server and blocker to the mix, and this group of six seniors definitely deserves to exit their home floor with another win.
“It is really important that they just redeem themselves at home,” Skoyen said. “I know these are the group of girls that can do that, and I can see that they care, and that they want to push themselves to do their best, and they really want to win. know they have what it takes to win.”
Don, Stocker, Bresler, Finneman, Worm and Waid will all be honored on Saturday as the Blue Ponies host the Indians for senior night and for a very important Central A conference matchup at 5 p.m.
