CMR sweeps Ponies

One down, two more to go for the Havre High volleyball team this weekend.

But the first of three matches didn’t go as planned for the Central A Blue Ponies. Thursday night the Ponies faced the CMR Rustlers in Great Falls. The Rustlers defeated the Ponies in three games by scores of 25-17, 25-12, and 25-12.

With the loss the Ponies record is now 3-6 overall, but remains 1-1 in the conference. Game one against the Rustlers was the Ponies’ most competitive showing of Thursday night as they put up 17 points in the loss. But with the tough CMR serving game and strong CMR hitters giving the Ponies all they could handle, the Rustlers cruised through the Ponies with ease at home.

The Rustlers racked up 19 aces and 19 kills against the Ponies serve receive and defense. McCall Enott had a CMR high six aces, while Kylie Otis, Enott, and Trisha Carlson had four kills each for the Rustlers. Havre had just 27 digs, as Breck Don led the way with eight.

Havre high also totaled four aces, 11 kills, one block, and seven assists in the matchup. Dani Wagner led with two aces, while Martha Stocker had four kills and Ellery Bresler had four assists.

Continuing with the busy weekend, the Ponies will play tonight and Saturday at home. Tonight the Ponies host Conrad at 7 p.m. and on Saturday the Ponies host Browning at 5 p.m. For more on the Ponies, see Page A7.
