Funeral services, burial were scheduled for this morning
A massive search for a man missing for a week ended Friday with the discovery of his body. A Chippewa Cree Tribe police investigator saying the investigation into Cody Lewis Trottier’s death is ongoing but there does not appear to be any foul play in his death.
Investigator Steve Corcoran said this morning that a family member of Trottier, 24, reported him missing last Wednesday. Trottier had last been seen about 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, near Bonneau Village on Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation.
The police department at Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation issued a missing person release Friday morning looking for help locating Trottier.
Corcoran said Rocky Boy police had issued a statewide request for information to locate Trottier, as there was some indication he may have left Rocky Boy, possibly going to Missoula or Great Falls or to Havre, Harlem or Fort Belknap. A ground search at Rocky Boy also was instituted.
Corcoran said a tribal employee found Trottier’s body near a vacant tribal building on the reservation at 2:20 p.m. Friday and reported it to the police.
Corcoran said he cannot release any details into the discovery as the investigation is ongoing. He did say that, at this point, Trottier’s death does not appear appear to be the result of foul play.
Trottier, 24, was a 2007 Rocky Boy High School graduate and studied at the University of Montana, then studied at Stone Child College on the reservation. He earned his degree from Stone Child last spring.
