The Montana State University-Northern volleyball team had waited 10 months to face the Carroll College Fighting Saints after Carrol beat Northern in the fifth set of the 2012 Frontier Conference championship match.
It turned out the wait was worth it.
On Friday night at the Armory Gymnasium, Northern dominated the Saints by scores of 25-15, 21-25, 25-15 and 25-13, marking the second straight season MSU-N has beaten Carroll to start league play in Havre.
Senior Abby Nicholas paced MSU-N with 16 kills, 14 digs and four blocks. Dayna Jensen added 11 kills, while Erin Jensen had 10 kills and two blocks. Alexis Nelson totaled nine kills and three of Northern's match-high 12 blocks, while Sydney Stolearcius and Holly Cartwright combined for 35 of Northern's 82 digs.
The win pushed MSU-N to an 11-4 start to the 2013 season. Northern travels to 25th-ranked Rocky Mountain College on Thursday night and Dickinson State on Saturday.
