The Havre Holiday store sold another winning lottery ticket — this time for $9,000 — Wednesday.
The winnings for three tickets sold in Havre have been unclaimed so far. On July 3, a $30,000 ticket was sold at the Sinclair store on 1st Street, and the Holiday store now has two unclaimed tickets: Wednesday’s $9,000 ticket and, of course, the $2 million ticket.
Daniel Iverson, communication manager at the Montana lottery office in Helena, said people waiting to pick up their prizes is not uncommon.
“What we hope people are doing is putting stuff together to get ready for the financial change in their lives,” Iverson said. “The more money people win, the longer they wait to claim their prize.”
Iverson said about $1 million in prizes, ranging from a $1 scratch-off win to larger prizes, go unclaimed every year.
Winners have six months to claim their prize and if they do not claim it, it goes into Montana’s general fund.
