Our View: Assisted living facility good for area seniors

A gap in the options for Hi-Line senior citizens may be filled soon with the pending opening of Timber Creek Village assisted living facility.

The new facility will offer seniors a variety of choices — from efficiency apartments to larger apartments.

Seniors can also get the care they need, ranging from very little to more advanced forms of care.

In all, there will be 40 apartments.

Baby boomers will be looking for places where they can give up as little independence as possible. In this kind of facility, people will be mobile, and they will be able to come and go as they please, yet relatives can be assured that someone will be keeping an eye on their loved ones.

The number of senior citizens in the Havre area — and nationwide — will increase in coming years as the generation born after World War II comes of age.

The new facility will not be right for everyone. Some will want to live independently, others may prefer to move in with family. Some may decide that a skilled nursing facility, like Northern Montana Care Center is best.

But Timber Creek will offer another option for seniors, and we welcome the new facility to the mix.
