The Havre High boys and girls golf teams are already nearing the halfway point of the 2013 season. Since school started just last week, that’s strange to say, but the golf season is already getting into the stretch run.
That run continues today for the Blue Ponies, who are back at the East Glacier Lodge Golf Course playing in the Browning Invitational. Havre just played last Thursday in browning, with both Blue Pony teams finishing first in a varsity-only event. Today’s tournament will feature both varsity and junior varsity players from Havre, as well as Browning and Lewistown. JV squads from Great Falls and Whitefish could also be in attendance.
Havre’s varsity lineup should be familiar with the East Glacier track having just played there last week.
On the boys side, sophomore Jerod Boles won last week’s tourney with an 82. Havre’s Jeff Miller, Kane Gabrielsen and Dustin Haas also placed. Junior Wyatt Lindbloom rounds out the HHS lineup.
The Pony girls also had plenty of success last Thursday, with senior Katie Beck finishing second. The Pony varsity lineup remains unchanged with Beck, sophomores Payton Howard and Randi Gabrielsen, and seniors Nikki Gabrielsen and Boston Swensen rounding out the HHS team.
Today’s event at East Glacier is an 18-hole tourney. Havre has two more tournaments next week. The Ponies will be in Lewistown next Friday and host the Havre Invite next Saturday at Beaver Creek Golf Course.
