Livingston woman finds rattlesnake on kitchen table

LIVINGSTON (AP) — A woman from southwestern Montana had an unexpected and unwelcome visitor last week when she discovered a rattlesnake sitting in plain view on the kitchen table.

The Livingston Enterprise (http://tinyurl.com/lma22vw) reports the woman was checking on her neighbor's home when she heard a rattle — and realized it was coming from the poisonous snake perched on the table.

That's when she called Livingston Police Department officers, who arrived quickly and killed the snake.

A local snake specialist, Michelle Becker, says the rattlesnake in the incident last Thursday was exhibiting unusual behavior.

Typically, any snake that steals indoors would look instinctively for cover.

Becker says it's possible the snake was following the scent of what would have been another uncomfortable visitor to the home on Livingston's north side — a rodent.
