From Tee to Green
So it’s time to say good bye to another golf season. I know, I realize the weather is still amazing and should be for a while, and even I might hit the links a few more times before Halloween. But, this will be the final edition of From Tee to Green for 2013.
And what a final edition it is.
First, Wednesday and Thursday night saw champions crowned at Prairie Farms Golf Course.
In the men’s league championship match, 18 holes wasn’t enough to declare a championship. Instead, Hi-Line Audio/Video had to go an extra hole in order to defeat D.A. Davidson for the 2013 Men’s League Championship. The championship team was composed of Scott Stockdill, Brian Jenkins, Matt Hedstrom and Brandon Moomey. Scott Miller, Dave Armstrong and Scotty Leeds also played a key role in the team’s season. D.A. Davidson’s roster included Frank Peterson, Ric Floren, Jim Wirt, Barry Zanto and Jordy Donoven. Hi-Line Audio/Video beat Bing ‘N’ Bob’s last Tuesday to reach the championship match, while D.A. Davidson bested Michelob Light.
Thursday night, the Ladies’ League Championship match was held at Prairie Farms. Independent Inspection defeated Northern Montana Hospital 19.5- 16.5 in the finale, while Havre Heating & A/C defeated Independence Bank 21-15 for third place. On the final night, Kelsey Ward was low gross with a 42, while Julie Mariani was low net with a 31. In Wednesday night’s semifinals, NMH defeated Independence Bank 21-15 and Independent Inspection defeated Havre Heating & AC 20.5-15.5. Wednesday night saw Carol Culp and Carrie Kato tie for low gross with 42. Shauna Albrecht was low net with a 30.
Congratulations to all the teams which competed in the men’s and women’s league golf this season. It was another great year.
But championships weren’t the only exciting thing happening last week.
Havre’s Carol Gabrielson recorded a hole-in-one Aug. 25 at Prairie Farms. Gabrielson aced the par-3 fourth hole with a nine iron.
A few reminders before saying goodbye. Prairie Farms will hold a League Member Appreciation Dinner Friday, Sept. 13, at the golf course. Anyone who participated in men’s or women’s league this season is welcome to attend. A Ladies League Fall golf meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 5, at 6:30 p.m. in the Pro Shop at the Prairie Farms Golf Course.
So that’s it. Another summer of golf has come and gone. The high school golf season is now in full gear and there will still be golf news to print, but for my column, it’s time to put it away for another year. It’s been a great summer on the golf course, and I’ll see you all next spring.
