News you can use
This is a historic week. Ninety-three years ago, women gained the right to vote. My grandmothers were young adult women at the time and had no say in who represented them. This is hard to fathom.
Wednesday is the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington.
African-Americans demonstrated to get their rights, among them, the right to vote.
By not voting and allowing voter suppression, we are giving up these hard-won rights too easily. The next time you're in a crowd look at the person on your left and on your right. Are you going to give up your privilege to vote to one-half of these people in the crowd? By doing so, you are giving these people too much power.
