Robert E. "Bob" Cornell III

Robert E. “Bob” Cornell III, 65, born Feb. 17, 1948, to Robert E. Cornell II and Claudia (Ritty) Cornell, in Billings, Mont., passed away Aug. 23, 2013, due to complications from the Vietnam War.

Bob served in the Navy from 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1972. He retired from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. He met Linda Fink Mindt, the love of his life, in Glasgow in 1991. He spent his retirement drag racing across the western United States.

Bob was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, two aunts, two uncles, mother-in-law and brother-in-law.

He is survived by Linda, his wife of 22 years; his mother, father and father-in-law; two sisters, Roxana Kezar and Danielle (Dave) Gulbrandson; brother, Vern (JoAnne) Cornell; stepdaughter, Sarah (Bryan) Emborg; stepson, Jake Mindt; two nieces, Kendra Heiken and Samie Keller; and one nephew, Bob Cornell.

He is also survived by four grandchildren, Isabel, Dylan, Mykayla and Delia; three grandnieces and one grandnephew; and his aunts, Sharon and Virginia (Elwin).

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 2 p.m. at Smith Downtown Chapel, located at 925 S. 27th St. in Billings.
