Elizabeth was born on July 23, 1919, in Havre to Jack and Rosa (Putra) Thompson. She was raised 30 miles south of Havre on the family ranch, attending school at Faber School. In 1951, she married Steve Brown at Van Orsdel United Methodist Church in Havre, and their union was blessed with nine children. The couple moved to Fort Assiniboine for a time and then moved back to the Thompson land, where they worked the ranch for 19 years. The couple then moved to Chinook to work for the Brown Company until Steve’s death in 2002. Elizabeth was a true rancher’s wife, working beside Steve from sun-up until sun-down. She then relocated to Havre, where she lived until her death.
Elizabeth was an incredibly hard worker who enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, fishing, reading and her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Brown, in 2002; her parents Jack and Rosa Thompson; her brothers, William, John and Thomas Thompson; and her sisters, Edna Thompson and Katherine Bradbury.
Elizabeth is survived by her four daughters Violet (Fred) Davey and Sarah Brown, all of Havre, Karen Kleinjan (Dale Gilmore) of Zurich, and Mary (Larry) Faber of Lloyd; her five sons, George (Sherri) Brown of Dodson, and Eldwin (Heidi) Brown, Stephen (Janice) Brown, Earl (Shauna) Brown, and Tom (René) Brown, all of Chinook; her 38 grandchildren; her 55 great-grandchildren; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
