It’s been a busy recruiting season for Montana State University-Northern head women’s coach Chris Mouat. And with the NAIA basketball season still several months away, Mouat is still busy.
Last week, he announced the signing of 6-1 forward Megan Feldman, who is transferring to MSU-N after two years at Clackamas Community College in Oregon.
This past season, Feldman was a key player on a Clackamas team that won the South Region, and played for an NWAACC title, falling 51-49 to Lane Community College. She was an Honorable Mention All-Region selection and was selected to play in the NWAACC All-Star Game.
During her sophomore season, Feldman averaged 8.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. She also collected a team-high 81 offensive rebounds.
According to Mouat, Feldman brings great energy to the court.
Megan is a really versatile, athletic post player,” he said. “She plays extremely hard at all times and her energy is contagious. She runs down a lot of balls that other post players can’t get to.”
Feldman is a graduate of Estacada High School (in Oregon), where she was a Second Team All Tri-Valley selection as a junior and a First Team selection as a senior in the 4A league. As a senior, she averaged 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 2.6 steals per game, while shooting 66 percent from the field.
“Megan is a very important sign for us,” Mouats said. “She comes from a great program at Clackamas and has been very well coached. She knows how to compete and will bring a lot to our post game. Plus, she does a great job in the classroom. We look forward to her progress in a Skylight uniform.”
Megan is the daughter of Trena and Gordon Feldman. She plans on majoring in biology at MSU-Northern.
With the addition of Feldman, Northern’s 2013 recruiting class is now at six. Mouat has also signed three high school players in Butte High’s Natalee Faupel, Molly Kreycik of Douglas, Wyo., and Cydney Auzenne of Regina Beach, Sask. Feldman is part of a trio of JC players to ink with the Skylights, along with A'Jha Edwards and Taybra Teeters.
