The Havre North Stars American Legion baseball team was supposed to start one final six-game road trip Monday afternoon north of the border. Instead, the North Stars watched it rain.
Havre was to play a Northern District doubleheader with the Lethbridge Spitz Miners Monday in Lethbridge, but thunderstorms which swept through the southern Alberta city washed away the games. No makeup date for the double dip has been announced.
The North Stars will try and get back on the diamond today when they venture further north to face the Fort MacLeod Royals in another key district showdown. Game times today in Fort MacLeod are set for 1 and 3 p.m.
Havre is trying to wrap up its final six road games of the season, though the North Stars will have to return to Lethbridge at a later date. The North Stars’ final road games of the summer are set for next Monday at Tri-County in Conrad. Those games are also make-up games from a previously rained out date.
The North Stars, which are vying to stay out of the Northern District cellar, are in the stretch run of their season. Havre can make up some ground in the final week of the season, as the North Stars play their final four games at home. Havre hosts the league-leading Vauxhall Spurs July 16 and the Miners July 19.
The postseason begins for Havre at the Northern District Tournament July 25-28 in Vauxhall.
