Person injured in plane crash hospitalized

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — One of two people injured in the crash of a single-engine airplane near Fort Smith remained hospitalized Wednesday.

St. Vincent Healthcare spokeswoman Lynn Ratcliff said the condition of the patient admitted after Tuesday's crash had been upgraded to fair. A second person brought to the hospital was treated in the emergency room and released. Their names haven't been released.

The Aviat A-1B Husky crashed at about 10:30 a.m. on the Crow Indian Reservation. Authorities confirmed two people were on board.

A spokesman with the Federal Aviation Administration said no new information was available from that agency.

In Wyoming, Campbell County Sheriff Bill Pownall told the Gillette News Record that the flight originated in Gillette, but he did not know who was operating the plane.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
