Two local prep basketball players are on their way to playing college basketball for the next two years.
Dawson Community College in Glendive recently announced the signings of Box Elder's Rebecca Rosette and Hays-Lodge Pole's Shakayla Whitecow.
Both players earned Class C Northern C honors as seniors this past season.
Whitecow is a 5-11 power forward who started for four straight seasons for the Thunderbirds and led them in scoring for three. In her senior season, she averaged, 17 points and eight rebounds per game. Over the last two seasons, Whitecow averaged nearly 20 points per outing for the T-Birds and was one of the top scorers in the District 9C.
Rosette, a 5-7 guard, scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds per outing for the Box Elder Bears this past season. Rosette also started for the Bears her freshman and sophomore seasons, before moving to New Mexico for her junior year. Rosette is a two-time all Northern C selection.
Both players ill join the Buccaneers this fall.
The duo join a host of girls from Rocky Boy who signed to play for Haskell Indian Nations University earlier this spring.
