Dennis Lawlor was born April 7, 1941, in Havre, Mont., to John and Lucy Lawlor. He passed away Dec. 12, 2012, at the Springs in Whitefish, Mont., due to prostate cancer.
Dennis Lawler was a stockman farmer on the Lawlor Ranch, started by his grandfather, Edward Lawlor in the late 1800s on Little Box Elder Creek south of Havre in the Bears Paw Mountains.
Dennis graduated from Havre High School and attended Northern Montana College. Dennis was a tireless worker and carried on the tradition of raising Hereford cattle and sustainable ranching and farming practices.
He was a quick study and mastered many disciplines. Dennis was a brown belt in karate, a private pilot, a member of the Montana Pilots Association, a member of the Montana Land and Mineral Owners Association, and believed in teaching with kind wisdom. He enjoyed flying over the ranch and to other areas of Montana, reading progressive ranching and farm publications and trying out new methods.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucy Lawlor; sister, Joan Voice; and brother, Martin Lawlor.
Survivors are sisters, Mary McPherson of Seneca Falls, N.Y. and Antoinette Wagner of Whitefish, Mont .; brother, John Lawlor of Havre; and nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held Saturday, June 29, 2013, at 10 a.m., at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Havre, with a luncheon and remembrance following the service.
