Havre mayor seat, several City Council positions, still open, some other cities’ races finding candidates
Two Havre City Council incumbents have filed for re-election, providing candidates in four of the seven races open in this year’s city elections.
Democrat Janet Trethewey filed as a candidate in the race for her four-year seat in Ward 2, while newly appointed Democrat Jay Pyette filed as a candidate for the four-year position now held by Republican Robert Kaftan in Ward 3.
Pyette was appointed in April to take the place of Republican Rick Dow, who resigned and has moved to Minnesota. The remaining two years of that seat also is up for election, with no candidates yet filed in that race.
Republican John R. “Bob” Waldron has filed as a Republican candidate in Ward 4. Incumbent Democrat Allen “Woody” Woodwick cannot run again in that ward because district changes have placed him in Ward 3. Woodwick, as of this morning, had not filed as a candidate in either the race for the two-year position or the four-year seat in Ward 3.
No other candidates had filed as of this morning in Ward 4.
No candidates had filed as of this morning in the race for Havre mayor, now held by Democrat Tim Solomon, or in the race for the city council seat in Ward 1, now held by Democrat Gerry Veis.
Hill County Justice Court Virginia Seigel, who has worked as clerk for the Hill County Justice Court since 2010 and also serves as judge pro tempore as needed, filed as a candidate for city judge. Incumbent Margaret Hencz has decided not to run for re-election in the nonpartisan race.
In other area races, Hingham City Council members Roger Haas and Sherian Horinek have filed for re-election in that nonpartisan race. No one has filed for Hingham mayor, now held by Ray Lipp.
In Harlem’s nonpartisan races, City Council incumbents Ralph Schneider and former state Sen. Ken “Kim” Hansen have filed for re-election in Ward 21.
Schneider’s race is for a four-year term, while Hansen is running to finish the term to which he was appointed.
Hansen was appointed to the seat formerly held by Charlie Kulbeck, who was appointed to the Blaine County Commission to fill the seat vacated when Commissioner Vic Miller died in 2012.
No one has filed for the City Council seat in Ward 2 now held by Jeremy Kinyon or for mayor, now held by William Taylor.
In Chinook’s nonpartisan race, no candidates have filed. The seats are coming up for election now held by City Council members Shawna Broadhead in Ward 1 and Jack Conner in Ward 2, and the mayor position, now held by Jamie Neibauer.
In Big Sandy, incumbent Ward 1 City Council member Stephen Stiles has filed as candidate for mayor, now held by incumbent Shaud Schwarzbach.

When that joke Tretheway shows up at your door, ask her if she has let Jesus into her heart and watch her have a conniption. Tretheway, doing what she can to stamp out freedom for years now.
