The H. Earl Clack Museum Board has announced a new manager is taking over at the county museum.
In a press release, board chair Judi Dritshulas said retired Havre attorney Jim Spangelo is taking over as the manager of the museum in the Holiday Village Mall.
The board did not address the hiring during its public monthly meeting Monday.
Dritshulas said this morning that she interviewed Spangelo Tuesday and offered him the position that day.
Dritshulas said in the release, in addition to his administration expertise, “Jim will bring a new perspective to the course of the museum and its take on local history.”
Former manager John Bruington resigned the position due to health problems, the release said.
Spangelo has been working off and on for the museum since last summer, and filled in for Bruington as acting manager for the past few months while Bruington underwent surgery and recovery.
Dritshulas said in the release that Spangelo has long been associated with the study of local history, and is a charter member of the Fort Assinniboine Preservation Association that was formed 25 years ago.
The museum was founded in 1965, and named in honor of longtime Havre businessman and community supporter H. Earl Clack and his wife, Margaret Turner Clack. The museum board also oversees the operation of the Wahkpa Chu’gn Buffalo Jump archaeological site north of the Holiday Village.
