Plenty of sun at local golf courses

The weather took a turn for the better last week and is still going strong. Temperatures were up, the sun was shining and golfers turned out in droves at area courses.

Those droves included last week’s men’s league action at Prairie Farms Golf Course.

Last Tuesday night saw Korb Construction take high-team honors with 25 points. The team was composed of Justin Newton, Matt Hedstrom, Pat Foster and Dave Boles. Newton fired a 1-under-par 35 to earn low gross, while Tom Patrick was low net with a 27.5.

Wednesday night, Waddell & Reed scored 24.5 points to take high team for the night. The team was made up of Eric Fee, Chuck Wimmer, Dave Herman and Cody Mattfeldt. Hedstrom, Jeremy Jensen and Boles all shot 35 to earn low-gross honors for the night, while Perry Ahern was low net with a 31.5.

Once again, women’s league will be getting under way at Prairie Farms soon. The ladies will be hosting a fun scramble night, open to all women this Thursday night at Prairie Farms.

The Rotary Youth Camp will once again be held at Prairie Farms this summer. The camp has been a big hit with youth golfers in recent years. It will be held July 8-11. Check back with my column for more details in the coming month.
