The fundraising foundation for the Great Northern Fairgrounds again is set to rock the fairgrounds, with a concert set for Saturday.
The seventh “yes, seventh,” annual Rockin’ the Hills fundraiser is set to start at 7 p.m. in the Bigger Better Barn, Missy Boucher of the Great Northern Fair Foundation said.
Proceeds at the gate, and from the beer garden, will go to the foundation to fund improvements to the fairgrounds.
The event started seven years ago as a battle of the bands, but the organizers later changed the format to a straight concert.
Boucher said five bands are lined up to perform, with Joe Ross, a member of the participating band Blind Luck, helping coordinate the event with all of the performers.
“It is great that our community has such great talent and people who love to have a good time that come out and love to entertain for us,” Boucher said.
The other bands scheduled to play are Milk River Band, making its seventh appearance at Rockin’ the Hills, and Shovels and Shotguns, traveling to the fairgrounds to play again in the fundraisers.
“Two other bands that are back playing together after a short break include Enzymatic and Shades of Blue,” Boucher said. “There may also be a few surprise performances taking place on stage to add to the entertainments as well.”
She added that the foundation again will set up “a giant sand pile for the kids, and kids at heart, to play in if they wish,” and Havre Youth Baseball Association will have a concession stand set up in the food court.
Admission to the fundraiser is $5 per person, with no charge for children younger than 6.
