Breaking Sports: Skylights pay back Warriors; Lights fall in Lewiston

The Montana State University-Northern women's basketball team exacted some revenge Saturday night in Lewiston, Idaho. Just seven days after losing to the Lewis-Clark State Warriors in double overtime in Havre, the Skylights flipped the script, beating the Warriors 60-50 in Lewiston, Idaho. The win was Northern's third in its last four games in Frontier Conference play, as the Skylights improved to 5-4 in the league and 13-8 overall. Northern also won at LCSC for the first time in over a decade.

Jordan Bruursema scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Nikki Tresch scored 16 and hit four 3-pointers as the Skylights raced out to a 36-13 halftime lead. Rachelle Bennett added eight points in the win. The Skylights return home to face UGF Friday night.

Meanwhile, the trip didn't go as well for the No. 13 Lights, who lost to the No. 5 Warriors for the second time in seven days. Saturday night, LCSC defeated the Lights 56-45. Northern fell to 6-3 in the Frontier and 18-5 overall, while the warriors improved to 7-2 in the Frontier and are now alone in first place.

The Lights led 28-26 at halftime, but LCSC quickly took over and led by as many 12 points in the second stanza. MSU-N cut the lead to 50-45 with just over three minutes to go, but the Lights didn't score the rest of the way. Jesse Vaughan and Devin Jackson scored 10 points each in the loss for the Lights. MSU-N will return home to face Great Falls Friday night.
