News you can use
Robert Molina
A new newsman arrived in Havre this week, with Robert Molina traveling across most of the country to take a job as a reporter for the Havre Daily News.
"I'm excited to be here, and I hope to let Havre work it's magic on me," Molina, 28, said this morning, adding, "And I hope I can make it my home."
He takes the place of Zach White, who left the Havre Daily to go to work as an editor for a technology news website in New York City.
Havre Daily News Publisher Stacy Mantle said she is pleased that Molina has joined the staff and is looking forward to publishing his work covering news in the region.
"I'm anxious for the public to get to know him better as he works here," she added.
Molina started Monday, and will cover spot news and general assignments, as well as the city government, law enforcement and emergency services, schools and university as main areas of his focus.
"Whatever is going on, whatever is important to the community, I'll be out there reporting on," Molina said.
He is a native of Maryland, growing up in Olney, Md., and graduating with a degree in journalism from the University of Maryland. He worked as an intern for The Dispatch in Lexington, Ky., and for National Public Radio in Washington, D.C., before taking the job in Havre.
He said he plans to take advantage of the outdoor recreation opportunities in the area, and that he is looking forward to getting to know the town, the area and the people here.
"(Havre Daily News Managing Editor John Kelleher) did a heck of a job convincing me that it's a small town but a well of news, with interesting characters," Molina said.
"I had a special idea of what Montana must be like, and, so far, it's met all of my expectations," he added.
