Enos R. Johnson Sr., Kah-ni-kahn Pah-si-ko

Enos R. Johnson Sr., 65, of Rocky Boy, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013, at Benefis Medical Center in Great Falls. of natural causes. Wake services began at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and will continue until his funeral service at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 25, 2013. Burial will be in the Johnson Family Cemetery. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.

Enos was born on Aug. 24, 1947, in Rocky Boy to John and Marion (Small) Ogemahgeshig-Johnson. He was raised in Rocky Boy, attending schools there, and graduated from Box Elder High School. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1968. He attended Northern Montana College in Havre, and mechanic school in Denver, Colo. In 1974, Enos married the love of his life, Mary Margaret Mitchell, and the couple made their home in Rocky Boy, raising their six children there. Enos worked in the print shop and then in the bi-lingual program, both at Rocky Boy schools. He then worked for the BIA Road Department for about 10 years before discovering his love of the law. Enos began his legal career as a public defender at Rocky Boy, later moving into the position of the prosecutor, before working his way into the position of tribal judge for 19 years. He also served on the Rocky Boy Tribal Council in the early '80s.

Enos enjoyed cowboy work, team roping, and he loved rodeos. At one point, he rode on the Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit. He enjoyed playing and watching basketball, going so far as taking his kids to basketball tournaments. He also enjoyed playing bingo and hand game. In his younger days, Enos liked hunting and fishing, but more recently, he enjoyed traveling. Enos especially loved his children and absolutely cherished his grandchildren.

Enos was preceded in death by his parent, John and Marion (Small) Johnson; his grandson ,Kyle Standing Rock; his father-in law, Paul Mitchell; his mother-in-law, Leona (Nomee) Mitchell; and his grandparents, Ogemahgeshig and Judith Peltier, and Joe Small, Sr. and Sitting Earth Watson.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Margaret Johnson of Rocky Boy; his sons, Enos Johnson, Jr. and Ryan Joseph (Kimberly Hollis) Johnson, all of Rocky Boy; his daughters, Luanne (Jerry) Four Colors, Althea Johnson, Linell (Duane) Standing Rock, and Jessica (Steve) Raining Bird, all of Rocky Boy; his 27 grandchildren of Rocky Boy; his 13 great-grandchildren of Rocky Boy; his brothers, Alvin Johnson, Dale Johnson, Sr., and John L. (Darlene) Johnson, all of Rocky Boy; his sisters, Selina Johnson and Leta Johnson-Standing Chief, of Rocky Boy, and Debra (Gilbert Sinclair) Johnson, of Fisher River, Manitoba, Canada; and a special nephew Dale Johnson Jr. who he spent a lot of time with; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
